MARK SCHOENFELD (Book/Music Lyrics). They believed in Barri and I
when we had nothing to believe in but ourselves: Mark Mariani, Stephen Herek,
Lori Herek, Marc Bailin. I pledge allegiance to the band of “The United Streets
of America,” an anonymous amalgamation of brilliant musical souls who have been
with me from my days in the Projects: Mark Miville, Gary Vick, Dan Serafini,
Darcel Wilson, Keith Robinson, Armsted Christian. They were strangers, yet they
opened up their hearts and homes and became my family: the Sirr Family, T.
Preston Browne, Bill Martin, Tim James, Ed Schmid, Steve Duclos, Brendon
Fitzgerald, Peter McGrath, George Gravel, Marc Canton, Richard and Jolanta
Markowitz, Josh Boynton. To the doctors of the New England Heart Institute,
Manchester, NH, who saved my life with a potent mixture of science, skill and
love: Dr. Westbrook, Dr. Fink, Dr. Jurado, Dr. Smith of M.U.A. I used to think
that Mother Teresa was the only angel on earth, but now I know there are
others, they just hide their wings beneath their nurses uniforms: to the nurses
and therapists at Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH. And to my children
Beck, Josh and Leanne, who feed me on a steady diet of unconditional love.
