PLAYBILL.COM'S CUE & A: Jennifer Mudge

By Ernio Hernandez
15 Sep 2009

Jennifer Mudge
Jennifer Mudge

Jennifer Mudge — star of the Off-Broadway play Oohrah! — fills out Playbill.com's questionnaire with random facts, backstage trivia and pop culture tidbits.

Full given name: Jennifer Mudge
Hometown: Cumberland, RI
Zodiac sign: Leo
Special skills: Ancient dressing room survival tactics.
First Broadway show ever saw: Les Misérables
If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? Anything with Laurette Taylor.
Current show you have been recommending to friends: Well, it was Ruined and Mary Stuart….I have to start the new season!
Favorite showtune: For hearing: "A Little Priest" from Sweeney Todd; for singing, "The Barbara Song" from The ThreePenny Opera.
Most played song on your iPod: Ok, so I looked up the play count on iTunes and it's "Amsterdam" from Passing Strange….followed by "We Just Had Sex"… followed by the live version of "Summer in the City" by Regina Spektor…there seems to be a theme but I'm not that clever.
Web obsession: Looking at friends of friends' Facebook pictures. It's weird. I don't necessarily know them…
Last book you read: "The Great Bridge" by David McCullough
Must-see TV show: "Mad Men"
Last good movie you saw: "Up"
Favorite board game: SpeedScrabble
Pop culture guilty pleasure: iPhone apps…should I feel guilty about this? I have THREE postcard apps…
First stage kiss: I can't remember now that I'm kissing my present stage husband, but I've been pretty lucky in that category, I think.
Favorite pre-/post-show meal: Hangar Steak, medium rare. Before OR after!
How you got your Equity card: The ThreePenny Opera at Trinity Rep, playing Polly.
Worst onstage mishap: Accidentally entering the Inquisition scene (you know, coming from cold, dank prison) in Saint Joan in very fuzzy, cozy warm blue slippers and watching all of the very indignant "men of the cloth" laugh as they came close.
Who have you played on "Law & Order"? Which edition? A tarty newscaster (mothership), Josh Hamilton's tarty wife (CI), and a non-tarty pottery shop clerk in a scene with the glorious Mr. Orbach (mothership)
Worst costume ever: I think probably anything from dance recitals as a grade-schooler where they costume little girls kind of like Kit-Kat girls. And fake eyelashes. What is WITH that?
Favorite junk food: Green tea mochi
Worst job you ever had: Applebee's waitress. But I was GOOD. I was a trainer.
TV or commercial gig you most enjoyed: Ones where they pay me enough to cover my rent so I can keep doing theater. And send me to amazing places like South Africa!
Leading lady role you've been dying to play: Yelena in Uncle Vanya
Have you ever had a family member in the military? Yes – my Dad was in the Army Corp of Engineers for about 5 years, my brother was a Marine Reservist, and a dear cousin served with the RI National Guard in Iraq.
